"For the wages of sin is death"
Romans 6:23
Black sails on the horizon. A pair of British keels guide a fleet of raiders in their coracles and small boats, crossing over from the lands of Allt Clut into Ulaid. Some of the men race, as a bounty has been promised to the man who first lays hands on Irish soil. The fleet carries a punitive raiding force, comprised of the retinues of several Pictish warlords, the King of Allt Clut, adventurers from the Kingdom of the North, and the host of Gwrtheyrn. In addition, the levies of Pagenses join the fleet, and form the backbone of the infantry force, as well as providing additional cavalry. The force is joined by Riata of Dal Riata himself, whose promise of tribute was clearly no more than a stalling technique.
This expedition has been years in the making, but the recently recovered dynamism of the Teyrn of Pagenses has allowed for it to be put into action. This is a punitive raid, to show the kings of Eire that whatever they commit against Britons, may be returned against them, and that they are not beyond the reach of retribution.
Raiding Army of the Conspirators
1,000 Teulu.
1,000 Picti
1,000 Ceithearn
500 Romano-British Nobles.
5,000 Brythonic Peasants.
200 Gaelic Nobles
2,000 Gaelic Peasants
OoC: A coalition of raiders are raiding northern Ulaid, and intend to cause as much pain over as wide an area as they are capable. It is assumed that this occurs after the raiders have had time to return, but those Kerns on 'special diplomatic missions' will be unavailable.
