Ivaylo sighs as he watches the unarmoured warriors train in front of him, they did not lack for bravery and ferocity, but they were poorly organized and painful vulnerable to cavalry, ranged weapons and armoured troops. Some drastic measures would have to be taken, but not so drastic as to destabilise his rule...
"Someone fetch the young man that captured the horses, I wish to see him in an hour. Count the horses and select enough men to mount them all, men with some experience, older and skilled in fighting from the saddle. Also, bring me a blacksmith!"

The young Perun is still basking in praise from his fellows and is evidently well-pleased to be noticed by the king of his people. He is very proud, but sufficiently deferent to his chief. He sports a mail coat and decorative Germanic helm, a rarity among the Slavs. His band of 100 warriors have become a kind of icon for many, to the extent that a jealous king might be angered, but they are quickly turning out to be an effective special unit, the kind that an ambitious king may have good use for.
A total of 200 cavalry are available to be equipped and mounted by the Sclavenes, half of which are loyal to Perun, calling themselves his 'Thunderers'. They are all extremely devout, proud and warlike, and have thrived amidst the perils of migration. Though, they may be dangerously close to considering their hero-leader as semi-divine.

The cavalry are incorporated into the Royal Guard of Ivaylo's army. They are trained to move in an organized fashion and to work with lances and shields to hit enemy infantry in powerful charges, as well as attacking enemy cavalry.
