"Two unciae of land, now abandoned, formerly occupied by free Britons, assumed by Caretic by right of Bona Vacantia..."
The king made a subtle gesture with his hand, and looked towards a present Bishop, before nodding at the young monk making the announcement.
"Half of which shall be granted to the holy mother church, to be administered by the Bishop of Eboracum," the monk returned to his previous monotone announcements to the gathered court. "The estates of the late patrician, Flavius Eugenius, known to the court as Owain, are assumed by the king by right of bona caduca, since he died with no legal heir."
There was some mumbling by those present.
"However, in respect of Owain's wishes, as witnessed by three present here today, his domus, the luxuriant villa of his family, is to continue in its religious function. The blessed Owain had for many years opened his own home for worship, and as such it is granted to the monk Rhydderch, to operate on behalf of the church as Abbot, to continue this pious work. This monastery shall be granted a proportion of the Blessed Owain's estate sufficient to sustain a community of monk's in a modest existence," Rhydderch barely blushed as he announced his own promotion. The court all agreed that the decision was wise, and that Ceretic was on his way to sainthood. Of course, they didn't mention how much of a profit he'd made from lands abandoned by people he refused to defend, as that would be impolitic.

After the official business is over, Ceretic and Rhydderch exit into an antechamber, to discuss delicate diplomatic matters with the Bishop. Afterwards, Rhydderch is sent out into the country with only a handful of men to protect him, clutching a packet containing a letter, sealed with Ceretic's seal. The Bishop and his entourage go out to survey their estates, before returning south across the wall.
