The King's party is met by soldiers of the Palatina outside the Gate of St. Romanus, the only complete gate in the, soon to be, mighty walls of Constantinople. They escort the King and his entourage down the Seventh Hill along the wide paved road into the city, passing cheering crowds at the Fora of Arcadius and the Ox. At Theodosius' Forum, find themselves part of a mighty procession of thousands of legionaries heading for the Hippodrome, guided by their Palatina guard of honour. The make a lap of triumph in the Hippodrome before the boy Emperor, and meet the Emperor and his Regent in the great box, where the King is sat at the Emperor's right to watch the spectacle of the racing, a capacity crowd out to cheer on the blues and greens... none of the others being worth their salt.
