Command of the newly raised Foederati of the Army of Illyria is given to a Romano-Gothic noblemen by the name of Marcellinus with orders to cross the Danube into former Sclavenic territory and round up every Sclavene left. They are not to shy from minor engagements, but are to fall back in the face of any significant force. While operating in support of the Huns in this instance, they are ordered to steer clear where possible.
Marcellinus is to be reminded that these men have yet to become accustomed to Roman ways, and this opportunity should be taken to train and drill them in Roman campaigning and tactics.

The campaign goes unexpectedly well. It seems that Sclavenia is found in a state of anarchy, with small groups of 50-100 men living in small communities. Only the city of Sclava commands a population of thousands, but is found in a state of disrepair and heavy damage, as a few local bands have been competing to replace the departed Ivaylo as King.
A total of 9,000 Slavs are captured and taken as Slaves, although only 7,000 survive to make it into Roman territory. A further 500 are lost to 'stock wastage' over the weeks after the campaign. The remaining 6,500 Slavs are healthy and saleable. Fit for a variety of uses, or of one grim use - blood tribute.
Marcellinus is hailed as Slavonicus by his men for his victories, on the suggestion of the Roman officers present to assist their training.

OoC: The Huns generously offered the above-market rate of 1 gold Aureus per living Slav, so 6,500 Slavs would be worth 6,500 Aurei of tribute to the Huns.
