Following a year-long siege, Constans II finally runs so low on supplies that he is forced to fight, and his malnourished garrison is easily overcome by the Alans and Vandals of Gerontius' army. Gerontius has Constans II executed as a traitor, and his head displayed at the city gates of Vienne.
Gerontius and his army stay and rest at Vienne for some time, before finally, in the spring of 413 A.D., they move on Arles, to the capital of Constantine III.
