Early in the spring of 415 AD the army of Svetovida Sviatislav marches into the province of Aegyptus. After six months of gruelling training and preparation the troops were finally prepared for their arduous task. The brief campaign against the Mauritians had provided excellent training for travelling and fighting in inhospitable dessert terrain.
The following army has crossed North Africa and entered the lush greenery of the Nile valley. The army moves on Memphis.
1,000 Tysoti
2,000 Romano-Berber Knights
5,000 Berber Tribesmen
1,000 Romano-Berber Nobles
20,000 Romano-Berber Peasants

The city of Memphis is a ruin of its former self. From the centre of the world, temporal and spiritual, to a provincial backwater, the last millennium has not been kind on the city that was once home to the creator of the world. A new creator now rules over Egypt, and his people do not idle themselves in the Nile valley, good for nothing but providing them with their sacrificial bread. The city of Alexandria has taken the centre-stage politically, and being home to the Coptic Pope, it is the new religious heart of Aegyptus too.
Svetovida, now rather pink as her Slavic complexion was not made for the desert sun, finds little resistance. The local authorities are panicked by what they assume is a barbarian invasion, before reading the edicts of Emperor Julian, after which they are merely baffled. The county is secured.
In the north, the city of Alexandria, besieged by Slavic Keels and Roman Liburnians, decides to cut its losses and welcome the African legions as liberators rather than conquerors. Julian announces to the world that he has taken over the governorship of Africa, before promoting Svetovida to Magister Militum per Orientum.
Svetovida is expected to continue her campaign by seizing and occupying Palaestina, where she may freely settle her troops in reward for their service. Svetovida may choose to disregard this if she wishes, being in control of the majority of Aegyptus, and betray Julian, settling on the Nile and marching on Alexandria.
