Svetovida and her warband flee through the Italian countryside. They stick to the coastal path and ride mainly at night. During the day they make camp in wooded areas and go to great lengths to avoid locals.
After two nights of hard riding the group finds itself looking upon the slumbering city of Genua.
The group waits whilst Oko and Reka make their way down to the city.

A few hours later they both return.
"Mistress. I have made contact with our friends in the city. Their ships are ready to sail and will meet us in a cove not far from here." Reka seemed quite pleased.
"The garrison is sleepy and weak. Your father's ravaging has left the little food and only the oldest and youngest men. I doubt they will hassle us if we maintain a clear distance." Oko had clearly managed to get quite close to the Romans troops. Even now he remained out of sight in the tree tops.
"Good. We ride at once. Tell the Captains that their men must make ready for a sea voyage immediately. Come, the future awaits."
