Hunnic Units:
The Huns themselves live a nomadic lifestyle, but their success as subjugators has turned them away from the self-sufficiency of their steppe ancestors, and they now live off the backs of their many subject peoples. The Huns rule with an iron fist, supported by the unfortunate tribes that live within their domain. The Germanic and Slavic peoples of the Carpathian Basin and the western steppes live in fear and subjugation, their kings replaced at whim, their settlements subject to harsh demands for supplies, or potential ravaging. Living as second-class peoples, they often try to escape, but the Huns aren't beyond pursuing them and bringing them back by force. The subject peoples also provide the population from which the Huns may draw their infantry support for the deadly Hunnic horse archers. The Huns are the fear of a hundred people, known to the dozens of Germanic tribes they forced to migrate, and to the Romans who know well their prowess with a bow. Hunnic khans, tribal leaders and subject kings are finding themselves increasingly rich, as the Huns prove able to extort treasure from the great tax-raising empires of the world without the need for raiding. The prosperity of the Huns relies on the careful extraction of tribute from these golden-egg laying geese.
Retinues:
Huns: Powerful steppe cavalry, armed with composite bows or lances. Arguably the most deadly warriors on earth, when the circumstances allow. 3,000 Aurei to recruit. Units of 1,000.
Tribal Units:
Germanic Infantry: Including Heruli, Gepids, Scirii, Gota, Thervingi, Greuthungi. These comprise the bulk of the population of their tribe, and are ubiquitously armed with spears, but armour is fairly rare. Many can afford to don a helmet and carry a shield, but little else.
Slavic Infantry: Including Sclaveni and Antae. These comprise the bulk of the population of their tribe. Ubiquitously armed with spears, they are more lightly armed than Germanic infantry, but provide better skirmishers. They often carry a number of throwing spears in addition to their fighting spears.
Germanic Nobles: Including Heruli, Gepids, Scirii, Gota, Thervingi, Greuthungi. These mounted nobles are typically armed with spears and shields, as well as mail and a helmet. Many can afford a sword.
Alans: Skilled and deadly horse archers, second only to the deadly Huns.
Navy:
Keel: The Crimean Goths might remember enough of their heritage, and maintain sufficient links with their Germanic cousins as to be able to construct a Hunnic warfleet. The life aquatic is clearly unsuited to the proud Huns, but with sufficient encouragement our subjects might take to the sea. Manned by around 100 Gothic pirates. 1,500 Aurei to build.

The Kutrigurs, following negotiations with Constantius, have made camp at Arles, recruited as Roman Foederati.
