Units of Powys:
Retinues:
Teulu: The 'family' of a powerful lord. These warriors are accepted at a young age to live at the court of their master as full-time warriors. They can afford to ride into battle on horseback, clad in mail and often even wielding fine swords - a sure sign of status. The flower of British nobility. 2,000 Aurei to recruit.
Levies:
Romano-British Nobles: The local landowners of Romano-Britain. These formed the civilian elite not so long ago, but are now forced to bear arms. They ride into battle on horseback, armed with swords or spears and some form of armour.
Brythonic Peasants: The majority of the free classes of Britons, from yeomen to free workers, these men are compelled to fight for their lord as the duty of all free men. They are armed largely with axes, spears or throwing weapons. Many make do with improvised agricultural tools. They wear little or no armour.
Aillt: Latin Servus, these unfree Britons are only a little above the rank of slave, and are tied to the land or household of their master. Many ailltion belong personally to the Teyrn. They are armed with knives and spears, and little else.
Alltudion / Foederati:
The Welsh kings may welcome Irish raiders, or distant Saxons into their land as resident aliens, granting land in return for immediate free troops.
Navy:
Keel: Germanic ships are by far the most effective for traversing the dangers of the Irish sea, amongst others. Those with the skills to build them already reside in our coastal towns, and work for gold. Manned by around 100 Brythonic raiders. 1,000 Aurei to recruit.
The Britons may raid or attack across lesser bodies of water, such as the Irish sea or British Channel, through the use of Coracles. These boats are easy to make with local materials, can be carried on a man's back, and have been in use since before recorded history.

Gwrtheyrn loses 100 Teulu in the raids on Ulaid, but gains 400 Aurei of loot, and a good degree of prestige. All know that even distant Iwerddon is within the reach of the High King.
